Recap: Cowanesque Valley Indians vs. Williamson Warriors
The Cowanesque Valley Indians suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 59-35 walloping at the hands of Williamson. While losing is never fun, Cowanesque Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 621st, while Williamson is ranked 255th).
Taylor Rae Jones continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Williamson, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Madisen Jones was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Cowanesque Valley dropped their record down to 2-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Williamson, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cowanesque Valley on the road again on Friday and play against North Penn-Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. North Penn-Liberty is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Williamson, they will head out on the road to challenge Towanda at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
