Baseball Recap: Lanier's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Lanier came into Friday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Gainesville Red Elephants 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Longhorns have posted since February 18th.

Noah Norton looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Zach Diaz was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Lanier's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-14 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Barsikh, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Lanier's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Gainesville, they moved to 6-12 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
