Baseball Game Preview: Twiggs Academy Trojans vs. Covenant Academy Rams

For the second straight game, Twiggs Academy will face off against Covenant Academy. The Trojans will host the Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Twiggs Academy is looking for their season's first win.

Twiggs Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came up short against Covenant Academy on Thursday, falling 18-3.

For Covenant Academy's part, Blake Bartow was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Bartow was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Sneed, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Covenant Academy's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 3-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Asa Wood, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Covenant Academy and bumps their season record up to 6-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Twiggs Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
