Softball Recap: Bayard Wins Going Away Against Chase County

Bayard's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Chase County Longhorns as they made off with a 19-5 win. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Longhorns recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Kaidence Lee made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 13 times she's played.

In other batting news, Braylea Halverson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in October of 2024. Krista West was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Bayard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Bayard's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Chase County, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Bayard beat the Longhorns by a score of 17-0 later that day.
