Softball Preview: Cambridge Bears vs. Creekview Grizzlies
Cambridge is 2-8 against Creekview since August of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Grizzlies at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cambridge barely beat Lassiter the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears never let the Trojans get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Wednesday.
Not much got past Lily Kimball, who gave up just a hit to keep Lassiter off the board.
At the plate, Cambridge let Alex Becker and Brekkyn Stucke run wild. Becker went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Stucke went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Becker's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Michniewicz, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Creekview came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Wolverines.
Cambridge's victory bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Creekview, their win bumped their record up to 20-4.
