Baseball Game Preview: Spackenkill Spartans vs. Rondout Valley Ganders

The Spackenkill Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Rondout Valley Ganders at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Spackenkill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Spackenkill beat Millbrook 7-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

The team relied heavily on Jeremy Acevedo, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Spackenkill's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wishrad, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Rondout Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pine Plains.

Spackenkill's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Rondout Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

Spackenkill couldn't quite get it done against Rondout Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 10-6. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
