Basketball Game Preview: Leigh Longhorns vs. Westmont Warriors

The Leigh Longhorns will venture away from home to face off against the Westmont Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leigh has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Leigh is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Ann Sobrato: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Leigh blew Ann Sobrato out of the water with a 63-36 final score. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Longhorns had established a 22 point advantage.

Leigh's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Catalina Williams, who posted 17 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Abigail White, who had ten points and eight rebounds.

Leigh was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Westmont came up short against Silver Creek on Tuesday and fell 37-30.

Leigh has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points over those games. As for Westmont, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.

Leigh didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Westmont when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 43-38 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leigh since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
