Softball Recap: Lewis Central's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After flying high against Harlan on Thursday, Lewis Central came back down to earth. The Titans took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cedar Falls Tigers on Saturday. The Titans were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Tigers' pitcher proved too tough.

Sophia Frascht spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lewis Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cami Damgaard, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The loss snapped Lewis Central's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 18-8 record. As for Cedar Falls, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lewis Central will head out to take on Red Oak at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Titans are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Cedar Falls, they are taking a road trip to face off against Iowa City on Monday.
