Soccer Game Preview: Stratford Academy vs. Mary Persons

Last Thursday, Stratford Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Tattnall Square Academy, taking the game 4-2. Given Stratford Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Tattnall Square Academy are ranked 156th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mary Persons got the win against Fayette County on Friday by a conclusive 6-2. Considering Mary Persons have won six contests by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Mary Persons is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those eight matchups. Stratford Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-0.

Stratford Academy came up short against Mary Persons in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, falling 2-0. Can Stratford Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
