Football Recap: West Wilkes Comes Up Short

West Wilkes lost against Alleghany back in March of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Blackhawks fell 17-10 to the Trojans. The Blackhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

John LeMasters produced another solid performance rushing for 127 yards and one TD on only 15 carries for Alleghany. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 88 yards.

West Wilkes' defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Alleghany, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, West Wilkes will be playing at home against Starmount at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' defense has only allowed 9.5 points per game this season, so the Blackhawks' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Alleghany, they are taking a road trip to take on East Wilkes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Trojans 14.7, the Cardinals 14) so any points scored will be well earned.
