Football Game Preview: Council Grove Braves vs. Riley County Falcons

The Council Grove Braves are taking a road trip to square off against the Riley County Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Council Grove will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Council Grove was fully in charge, breezing past Cair Paravel 39-7. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Braves had established a 25-point advantage.

Council Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grady Kepley led the charge by picking up 91 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 91 receiving yards gave Kepley a new career-high. Blaise French was in the mix too, providing Council Grove with one TD.

Meanwhile, Riley County slipped by Chapman 21-20 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Irish: they've now won three in a row.

Council Grove's record now sits at 3-0. As for Riley County, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Council Grove took their win against Riley County in their previous matchup back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 34-13 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
