Softball Recap: Evans' Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Evans put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Burke County Bears with a sharp 14-2 victory. The Knights not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since August 10, 2024 (when they won 18-0).

Merisa Shoener looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Kimariya Hinton was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August of 2024. Leila Salmond was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBI.

Evans hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Evans' win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Burke County, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Evans and Burke County will both be playing Cross Creek the next time they take the field. The Bears will head out to face the Razorbacks at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, while the Knights will play them later in the day, at 12:30 p.m.
