Softball Recap: Basalt Longhorns vs. Durango Demons
Basalt extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-2. They lost 18-6 to the Durango Demons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Demons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-4 on Saturday.
Basalt saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hadley Ivy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another was Elsie Mile, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
As for Durango, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 14.5 runs this season.
On Durango's side, Alexa Capitan was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Capitan a new career-high. Alexis Wood was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Coming up, Basalt will head out to challenge Grand Junction at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Durango, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Alamosa at 3:00 p.m.
