Basketball Game Preview: Northview Vikings vs. Ontario Jaguars

The Northview Vikings will take on the Ontario Jaguars in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northview has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with ten straight defeats, while Ontario will come in with four straight wins.

Northview is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Santa Fe on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Vikings might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Chiefs an easy 54-31 victory. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 993rd, while the Chiefs are ranked 372nd).

Northview's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jessica Mitchell, who posted nine points, and Chloe Flores, who shot 43% from the field to rack up 13 points. Mikayla Jenkins also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Meanwhile, Ontario beat Fontana 40-33 on Friday.

Ontario's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Northview, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything came up roses for Northview against Ontario in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, as the team secured a 57-23 victory. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
