Weekend slate headlined by No. 1 Buford at No. 24 North Cobb.

Week 3 of high school football in Georgia is headlined by a showdown between state-ranked powers Carrollton and Rome.

Julian Lewis and Carrollton bounced back from a season-opening loss by thrashing South Paulding (Douglasville) 49-0 last week.  Rome has outscored its first two opponents 90-8.

Ranked No. 1 in Georgia and No. 5 nationally, Buford continues its tough slate by taking on No. 24 North Cobb (Kennesaw). Led by five-star seniors Dylan Raiola, K.J. Bolden and Eddrick Houston, the Wolves have already beaten teams from Maryland and North Carolina.

No. 11 Creekside (Fairburn) makes a cross-country journey to take on Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), the nation’s No. 1 squad. The Seminoles are 2-0 and coming off a 34-15 win over St. Peter’s Prep, one of New Jersey’s top teams.
