Baseball Game Preview: Viroqua Blackhawks vs. La Crosse Central Riverhawks

The Viroqua Blackhawks will challenge the La Crosse Central Riverhawks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Viroqua 3.9, La Crosse Central 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Viroqua barely beat Black River Falls the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blackhawks were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Tigers on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Blackhawks, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, La Crosse Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holmen.

Charlie Buxton made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Kenden Bishofsky also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Viroqua has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for La Crosse Central, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Viroqua skirted past La Crosse Central 5-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Blackhawks repeat their success, or do the Riverhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
