Softball Recap: Washington-Wilkes Triumphs

Washington-Wilkes came out on top against Lincoln County on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Tigers walked away with a 6-3 win over the Red Devils. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-2 back in August.

Kennedy Danner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Washington-Wilkes saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baylie Bridges, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Those two hits gave Bridges a new career-high. MyAsia Lewis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Washington-Wilkes' victory bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Lincoln County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Looking ahead, Washington-Wilkes will face off against Towns County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lincoln County, they will square off against Thomson at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
