Basketball Recap: Arcadia Titans vs. Seton Catholic Sentinels
The Arcadia Titans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Seton Catholic at home and fell 78-43. While losing is never fun, Arcadia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Sentinels are ranked 13th).
Despite the loss, Arcadia still got an impressive performance from Tianna Knighton, who scored 33 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That was a full 76.7% of Arcadia's points, marking the 18th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Carmella Gallardo was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with six steals for Seton Catholic. Gallardo has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Sophie Morales was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven assists and four steals.
Arcadia has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Seton Catholic, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-6.
Arcadia will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully St. Mary's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Wednesday. Seton Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
