Basketball Recap: Canton Warriors vs. Troy Trojans
If Canton was feeling good fresh off their 48-3 takedown of Sayre last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Canton Warriors lost 66-45 to the Troy Trojans on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while the Trojans are ranked 77th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Troy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kailyn Sterling, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Sterling is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Alyssa Parks was another key player, putting up 17 points and six boards.
Canton's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Troy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.
Canton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Troy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-42 win against Northeast Bradford on the 14th.
