Northwest waltzed into their contest on Friday with 16 straight wins... but they left with 17. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Ames Little Cyclones an 8-0 shutout. Considering the Wolves have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Northwest's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Ames, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-9.

Coming up, Northwest will venture away from home to take on Urbandale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ames, they will welcome Fort Dodge at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Little Cyclones 3.7, the Dodgers 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
