Baseball Recap: Archer Comes Up Short

Archer blew Newton out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Newton got their revenge. The Tigers fell just short of the Rams by a score of 7-5. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 18, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Apollo Bailey and Logan Pogorezelski stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bailey scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Pogorezelski scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Archer's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Newton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Newton will head out on the road to take on Etowah at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Archer will be paying especially close attention to the Rams' matchup: after the Rams faces off against Cherokee, they'll take on Archer again at 5:55 p.m. on Friday.
