Soccer Game Preview: Evergreen Valley vs. Santa Teresa

The Evergreen Valley Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Santa Teresa Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Evergreen Valley's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Ann Sobrato as Evergreen Valley made off with a 3-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Mariah Betancourt and Camila Figueroa scored all three of Evergreen Valley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Meanwhile, Santa Teresa was not the first on the board last Tuesday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged Live Oak out 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Saints as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Evergreen Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those four games. As for Santa Teresa, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-7-1.

Evergreen Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Santa Teresa in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 3-1. Will Evergreen Valley repeat their success, or does Santa Teresa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
