High school football rankings: Frederick Douglass finishes No. 1 in final Kentucky MaxPreps Top 25

Broncos go undefeated and win first state title in school history.

The high school football season in Kentucky came to a close over the weekend. Frederick Douglass (Lexington) was among the winners, beating Bowling Green in the Class 5A state championship game. That victory helped propel the Broncos to the No. 1 ranking in the final state MaxPreps Top 25.

Frederick Douglass (15-0) wrapped up an undefeated season with its first state title in school history. Tied at 7-7 at halftime with No. 8 Bowling Green, the Broncos ripped off three unanswered touchdowns to win 28-7. The school has gone 63-8 since opening in 2017.

Coming in at No. 4 is Christian Academy-Louisville (Louisville), which beat No. 23 Bardstown in the Class 3A title game 38-0 – the sixth shutout of the season for the Centurions.

Boyle County (Danville) won its third consecutive state crown and finished No. 6. The Rebels were tied with No. 9 Corbin 26-26 in the Class 4A title game heading into the fourth and pulled out a 32-26 win.
