Preview: West Wolfpack vs. Golden Valley Cougars
The West Wolfpack will head out on the road to face off against the Golden Valley Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 54-27, which was the final score in West's tilt against Lathrop on Tuesday. West was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-8.
Athena Pastran put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 11 points. The match was her third in a row with at least ten points. Janessa Hallman was another key contributor, scoring 5 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Golden Valley, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They were beaten by Ripon 48-15 on Saturday.
This is the second loss in a row for West and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for Golden Valley, they bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
West might still be hurting after the 42-20 defeat they got from Golden Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
