Softball Recap: Freeman Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Freeman came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Auburn Bulldogs. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Bulldogs two weeks ago, they had to take a 5-3 defeat.

Sydney Lenners spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Freeman saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jadyn Griffith, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Freeman hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 14-5 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Freeman's victory bumped their record up to 17-10. As for Auburn, they moved to 17-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Freeman is taking a road trip to face off against Grand Island Central Catholic at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Auburn, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nebraska City at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
