Softball Recap: Freeman Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Freeman extended their winning streak to five on Saturday, bumping them up to 17-10. They came out on top against the Auburn Bulldogs by a score of 4-1. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Bulldogs two weeks ago, they had to take a 5-3 defeat.

Sydney Lenners spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Freeman's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jadyn Griffith, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Freeman hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 14-5 when they post two or more strikeouts.

As for Auburn, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-7. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

On Auburn's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Gretchen Paschal gave up just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Morgan Stanley made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Freeman didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-5 defeat against Grand Island Central Catholic on the 29th. As for Auburn, they will be playing at home against Nebraska City at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
