Basketball Recap: Leah Lopez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bethel Christian over Hamilton

After flying high against Norton Science & Language Academy last Thursday, Bethel Christian came back down to earth. The Bethel Christian Kings came up short against the Hamilton Bobcats on Saturday, falling 51-31. The loss continues a trend for the Kings in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Several Kings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leah Lopez, who posted two points along with 13 boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Bethel Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Hamilton was led to victory by Shaya Jangula and Azul Cervantez. Jangula put up 20 points, while Cervantez had 20 points. With that strong performance, Cervantez is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

Bethel Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Hamilton, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.

Bethel Christian has already played their next matchup, a 31-6 win against Crossroads Christian on the 28th. As for Hamilton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-42 loss against Temecula Prep on the 29th.
