Baseball Recap: East Jackson Takes a Loss

East Jackson extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 26 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-17. They lost 13-3 to the Vandercook Lake Jayhawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Trojans have suffered against the Jayhawks since May 4, 2016.

As for Vandercook Lake, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 6-14 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Vandercook Lake's part, Justin Barnes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Barnes has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter Kurzynowski, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. David Arbogast was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one double.

As of now, neither East Jackson nor Vandercook Lake have any future games scheduled.
