Basketball Recap: Balboa Piles Up the Points Against Bayside

While Balboa didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-25), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Bayside Bears, posting a 75-31 win. The Bengals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 20 points or more this season.

Bayside's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Wenzel, who posted six points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Justin Martinez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Balboa, bringing their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points over those games. As for Bayside, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Balboa will host The Rock National at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bayside, they will challenge Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
