Recap: Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots vs. Torrey Pines Falcons
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against La Costa Canyon, the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They snuck past Torrey Pines with a 54-48 win. With that win, Academy of Our Lady of Peace brought their scoring average up to 50.7 points per game.
Jillian Nowicki had an outrageously good game as she scored 32 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 steals. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Samantha Gehler, who scored 9 points along with 11 rebounds and 5 assists.
Despite the loss, Torrey Pines still got an impressive performance from Grace Trusso, who scored 22 points along with 9 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Lau, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Academy of Our Lady of Peace's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Torrey Pines, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academy of Our Lady of Peace will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Bishop's at 5:30 p.m. on November 28th. Hopefully Bishop's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday. Torrey Pines and Rancho Bernardo will face off at 7:00 p.m. on November 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Rancho Bernardo presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Torrey Pines in California (Rancho Bernardo is ranked 12th, while Torrey Pines is ranked 377th).
