Basketball Recap: La Sierra Academy Takes a Loss

La Sierra Academy is still winless after their match against California Lutheran on Tuesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 28-25 heartbreaker at the hands of the California Lutheran C-Hawks. The Knights lost against the C-Hawks in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 39-12 score last time.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead California Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cailin Schroeder, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Schroeder has scored at least a third of California Lutheran's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Redeemed Ebulu, who posted six points.

La Sierra Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for California Lutheran, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-7.

La Sierra Academy will square off against United Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 21st. As for California Lutheran, they will challenge Sherman Indian at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
