Soccer Game Preview: Swainsboro vs. Toombs County

Swainsboro hasn't had much luck against Toombs County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will square off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Toombs County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Swainsboro, who comes in off a win.

Swainsboro will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Bryan County on Thursday. The Tigers' defense stepped up to hand the Redskins a 4-0 shutout. Considering Swainsboro's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

They hit Bryan County with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Cristian Garcia (2), Anthony Jimenez, and Morgan Terry.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Toombs County was not quite Vidalia's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Indians.

Toombs County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Swainsboro, their win bumped their record up to an identical 10-6.

Swainsboro might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Toombs County in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
