Baseball Recap: Springfield's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Springfield barely beat Limestone the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Springfield's pitcher stepped up to hand Limestone a 10-0 shutout on Friday. Springfield not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29th (when they won 14-2).

Not much got past Karter Marks, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Limestone off the board. Marks has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Wade Snyder was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Connor Borah, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs.

Springfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Springfield moved to 14-18 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Limestone, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-17 record this season.

Springfield will head out to challenge Edwardsville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Limestone, they will take on Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
