Basketball Game Preview: Pinewood Panthers vs. San Ramon Valley Wolves

The Pinewood Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the San Ramon Valley Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pinewood heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Friday. They fell 59-51 to Archbishop Mitty. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Pinewood might have lost, but man, Jolyn Ding was a machine: she went 5-for-10 on her way to 17 points and six assists. Ding's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vallory Kuelker, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, San Ramon Valley came tearing into Saturday's matchup with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.4 points), and they left with even more momentum. They breezed past the Dons to the tune of 76-43. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 games by 20 points or more this season.

San Ramon Valley's victory bumped their record up to 27-3. As for Pinewood, their loss dropped their record down to 23-4.

Pinewood didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against San Ramon Valley when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 57-52 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinewood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
