Softball Recap: Bellevue East Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Bellevue East had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Omaha Westside Warriors. The Chieftains have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

Alisha Mcmurtry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Audrina Urwin was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Lilly Anderson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Bellevue East now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Omaha Westside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Bellevue East will face off against rival Millard South at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Omaha Westside is set to take on their familiar foe Papillion-LaVista South at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
