Football Game Preview: Mineral Ridge Rams vs. Memorial Red Devils

The Mineral Ridge Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Memorial Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mineral Ridge is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Mineral Ridge hadn't beaten Lowellville on the road since September 15, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Rams blew past the Rockets 48-16. Considering the Rams have won four matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Preston Holbrook had a dynamite game, rushing for 132 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries.

Mineral Ridge's run defense was locked in: Lowellville could only muster 1.6 yards per carry. The Rams didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.6.

Meanwhile, Memorial's game on Friday was all tied up 6-6 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They snuck past Western Reserve with a 24-19 victory.

Memorial's win came from a few key players Mineral Ridge will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ricky Fleetion, who rushed for 89 yards and a pair of TDs. Memorial also got a significant boost from D'Ondre Brown, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 90 yards.

The win got Memorial back to even at 3-3. As for Mineral Ridge, their record now sits at 5-1.

Everything came up roses for Mineral Ridge against Memorial in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 40-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
