Volleyball Recap: Van Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Van waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Canton Eagles. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Van had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 25-27, 22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 15-9.

Jordan Flodder paced Van's offense, picking up 22 kills. Flodder got some help from Keeley Walker and her 29 assists. Finally, Flodder was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Van's win bumped their record up to 21-7. As for Canton, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-13.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Van will square off against rival Kemp at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Canton is set to challenge their familiar foe Mabank at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
