Recap: Kennedy Fighting Irish vs. Valencia Tigers
The Kennedy Fighting Irish's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 47-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Valencia. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Kennedy of the 50-25 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Kennedy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raeann Williams, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Madeleine Hsu, who scored 11 points.
Kennedy's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-14. As for Valencia, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kennedy will take on Crean Lutheran at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Crean Lutheran presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Kennedy in California (Crean Lutheran is ranked 126th, while Kennedy is ranked 613th). As for Valencia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pacifica at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
