Baseball Recap: Plainwell Triumphs

Plainwell barely beat Thornapple Kellogg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Plainwell never let Thornapple Kellogg get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for Plainwell in their matchups with Thornapple Kellogg: they've now won three in a row.

Andrew Hampton was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Filkins, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Plainwell's victory bumped their record up to 16-13-1. As for Thornapple Kellogg, they dropped their record down to 4-23 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Plainwell will head out on the road to square off against Schoolcraft at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Thornapple Kellogg, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Caledonia at 10:00 a.m.
