Football Game Preview: Independence Mustangs vs. Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets

The Independence Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Independence is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Independence fought the good fight in their overtime game against Benton on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 34-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bobcats 7-0 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 37 points the game before, Iowa Falls-Alden was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were beaten by Clear Lake 56-0. The shutout was out of character for the Cadets seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Iowa Falls-Alden, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Everything came up roses for Independence against Iowa Falls-Alden in their previous meeting back in October of 2020, as the squad secured a 44-9 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
