Basketball Recap: Woodcreek Takes a Loss

Woodcreek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 55-36 bruising from the Inderkum Tigers. The Timberwolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 50-45.

Despite the loss, Woodcreek still got an impressive performance from Ryan Nair, who posted 15 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Nair is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 33 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Green, who earned four points.

Even though they lost, Woodcreek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Jamiah Fontenberry continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Inderkum, shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and almost dropping a double-double with 28 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Fontenberry has scored at least a third of Inderkum's points. Aniyah Bruhn was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Woodcreek's loss dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Inderkum, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Woodcreek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-34 victory against Tracy on the 8th. As for Inderkum, they have also already played their next contest, a 52-19 win against Rio Americano on the 11th.
