Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Snags 13th Victory in Last 14 Games

It's playoff time, and St. Mary had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 59-46 win over the Archangels Catholic Defenders on Friday. For the Cardinals, this counts as revenge for the 56-39 victory the Defenders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2021.

St. Mary's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Barlow, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Barlow is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Brabec, who went 5-for-10 en route to 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

St. Mary's is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. The loss snapped Archangels Catholic's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 19-7 record.

Coming up, St. Mary's and Wynot will face off at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Wynot will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something St. Mary's surely won't give up without a fight.
