Basketball Game Preview: Pinewood Panthers vs. San Domenico Panthers

Having just played yesterday, the Pinewood Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the San Domenico Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Pinewood's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches.

If Pinewood beats San Domenico with 70 points on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Pinewood simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Menlo School 70-42. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 22 points or more this season.

Pinewood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Katherine Garr led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. Garr's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlyn Kramer, who posted 13 points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Pinewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when San Domenico took on Marin Academy on Friday. San Domenico fell just short of Marin Academy by a score of 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since December 16, 2023.

Pinewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.5 points. As for San Domenico, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.

Pinewood strolled past San Domenico when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 56-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinewood since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
