Recap: St. Joseph Academy Crusaders vs. Valhalla Norsemen

The St. Joseph Academy Crusaders's game on Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 53-41 win over Valhalla. Winning is a bit easier when you nail six more threes than your opponent, as St. Joseph Academy did.

Luciana Aguilar was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds and eight steals. Another player making a difference was Nancy Chavez, who scored 15 points along with five steals.

When it comes to explaining why Valhalla lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alexandra Amaya. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Amaya has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Matos, who scored 11 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.

St. Joseph Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Valhalla, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Joseph Academy will take on Bishop's at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop's is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for Valhalla, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Santana at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santana has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 23.
