Soccer Game Preview: Santa Maria vs. Central Valley Christian

The Santa Maria Saints will take on the Central Valley Christian Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Santa Maria is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Santa Ynez as Santa Maria made off with a 4-1 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Saints, who have now won four games in a row.

They hit Santa Ynez with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Darlyn Santiago Sanchez (2), Lucero Abundiz, and Isairis Ruiz.

Meanwhile, Central Valley Christian kept a clean sheet against Lompoc on Wednesday. They blew past the Braves 6-0. The Cavaliers' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matchups.

Santa Maria pushed their record up to 21-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those eight contests. As for Central Valley Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
