Baseball Recap: Jones County Continues Road Dominance on Friday

After only two runs in their last game, Jones County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Stockbridge on Friday. Jones County blew past Stockbridge 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won nine contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Trent Paulk spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brayden Lampkin, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-5. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Davis Upshaw, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Jones County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stockbridge only posted an OBP of .095.

Jones County's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Stockbridge, they moved to 8-9 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jones County will head out to take on Ola at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Ola will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Jones County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Stockbridge, they will venture away from home to face off against Eagle's Landing at 5:55 p.m. on Monday. Stockbridge is facing Eagle's Landing at the right time seeing as Eagle's Landing is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
