Bixby had lost five straight, but after bumping their record up to 15-19 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the Tahlequah Tigers 3-2. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.
Addison Shannon looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kenzie Howard, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August. Brynlee Hopkins was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
As for Tahlequah, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 29-6-1. The loss was just more heartbreak for they, who fell 6-4 when the teams last met back in August of 2015.
On Tahlequah's side, Lilly Garcia made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Garcia has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rylee Stark, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.
Bixby does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tahlequah, they have already played their next game, a 25-0 win against Bishop Kelley on the 7th.
