Baseball Recap: Jackson Finds Home Field Redemption Against Southwest Dekalb

There's no place like home for Jackson, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Everything went their way against the Southwest DeKalb Panthers on Tuesday as the Jackson Jaguars made off with a 14-5 win. Considering the Jaguars have won three contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Thornton Wilder looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Jackson is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Pearce Henry and Tyler Dunn did most of the damage at the plate: Henry scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Dunn scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Henry also launched a home run, marking his first of the season. Seth Geter was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Jackson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Jackson back to even at 4-4. As for Southwest DeKalb, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Jaguars challenge the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Villa Rica will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Jackson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southwest DeKalb, they will take on Paideia at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
