Softball Recap: Russellville Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Russellville had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Community Trojans.

K'Lea Basnett made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Basnett was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Beckel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Karleigh Grayson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Russellville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Community only posted an OBP of .357.

Coming up, Russellville will square off against Louisiana at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. As for Community, they will face off against Harrisburg at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
