Baseball Recap: Atkinson County Comes Up Short

Atkinson County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 11-1 to the Charlton County Indians. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Indians this season, with their most recent loss being a 8-6 defeat on Friday.

Atkinson County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Spivey, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave Spivey a new career-high. Drew Carmichael also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Atkinson County's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Charlton County, the victory (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atkinson County will take on Telfair County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Charlton County, they will head out to take on McIntosh County Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
