Softball Recap: Mark Twain Has No Trouble Against Westran

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Elsberry, Mark Twain was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Westran Hornets. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ella Moss was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Wilkinson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mark Twain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mark Twain's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Westran, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Mark Twain will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against North Callaway at 5:00 p.m. As for Westran, they will venture away from home to face off against Schuyler County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Rams have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
